i saw the beautiful new images of mercury 1 day after turning in my "very last entry" to the contest
i realized i had 1 more theme i wanted 2 explore

in sci fi the universe is typically full of life and ships can travel between stars in days or hours

what if thats wrong

what if, either because of the rarity of life or the vastness of the space between stars, humankind goes from cradle to the grave alone never touched by life from outside our own world?
what if we really are alone?
