Ever he clutched me, and ever I hewed him, till at last he fled into dark tunnels. Thus he brought me back at last to the secret ways of Khazad-Dûm: too well he knew them all.

This is really good! It's too easy to forget this description of the Balrog. It's both different yet not contradictory to the previous descriptions. I think you've done a great job of bringing this side of the creature to life.
